This study analyzes the concepts of place and non-place in the photo series "Pamenar" by Mehdi Vosoughnia. The main focus is on examining the representation of spaces that either possess meaningful identity, history, and social connections ("place") or lack these characteristics and are defined as "non-place." The aim of the study is to explain and analyze how these two concepts are represented in urban photography.
The research method is descriptive-analytical, and the data have been collected through library resources. To achieve the research objectives, Marc Augé's approach to ethnography has been utilized. The findings indicate that Vosoughnia’s photographs effectively depict the concept of non-place by emphasizing urban contrasts and disharmonies, while also revealing the changes and transformations of modern urban spaces and their impact on identity, history, and social connections.
